Straight Run Requirements of Flow Technologies
Straight runs refer to the distance of straight piping required before the inlet or after the outlet of a flow meter. Straight-run is one of the most significant variables to consider in your flow meter installation to ensure accurate and repeatable flow measurement. All flow technologies have recommended installation and engineering practices to ensure they meet their published specifications and for optimal performance, accuracy and repeatability. Flow meter users are frequently challenged with wide variations in their actual field conditions and installation constraints that are much different from the ideal conditions under which their flow meter was calibrated. Inadequate straight-run or the presence of flow disrupters are the most common real world constraints to proper flow meter installation.
