2-Way Solenoid Valves

What is a Solenoid Valve?

A solenoid valve is an electromechanical device that is used to control the media flow. For more information, check our article on Solenoid Valves. Solenoid valves are used to close, open, dose, distribute or mix the flow of gas or liquid in a pipe. The specific purpose of a solenoid valve is expressed by its circuit function. The circuit functions of a solenoid valve is classified into two functions:  3-Way and 2-Way Solenoid Valves.

A 2-way solenoid valve has two ports, an inlet and an outlet. Flow direction is critical to ensure proper operation, so there is typically an arrow indicating the flow direction. A 2-way valve is used to open or close the orifice. Usually, the 2-way valve is a normally closed solenoid valve that has two pipe connections, an inlet called the cavity port and an outlet called the body orifice port. When the valve is energized, the plunger opens, allowing media to flow through the valve in the cavity port and out the body orifice port. The orifice then closes and flow through the valve stops.
